Here are Keep Calm and Coupon we keep our eyes on coupon related search trends within Google. This helps us to keep our content current and give our readers / visitors what they want. Lately we have been noticing significant spikes for search terms that involve ‘coupons’ and ‘wish.com’. We have never heard of wish.com so we decided to do some of our own research on this website and its coupon connection.
Wish.com
On its surface wish.com looks very similar to many other websites that sell clothing, electronics and various other knick-knacks. The pricing looks very low (almost too low) and the 50% off coupon they are offering when you refer a friend tells us they‘re serious about growing their site. But the million dollar question is do you get what you pay for or not. To find that out we researched wish.com at several consumer reporting websites and found not just what we suspected – if it’s too good (or cheap) to be true than it probably is.
Wish.com has an A+ rating with the BBB (Better Business Bureau) but that rating is certainly misleading to say the least. Of the 280 customer reviews on the BBB website a whopping 85% (240) are NEGATIVE. There are loads of customer complaints – nearly 1,000 as we are writing this. The complaints seem to be primary in regards to very poor quality merchandise. Counterfeit or knock-off merchandise, high shipping fees, long shipping times and unauthorized charges to consumer’s accounts. These issues are echoed in several other consumer protection websites as well.
Wish.com effectively acts as a channel or venue for consumers to order direct from companies that are based in China. This generally takes the form of low-quality merchandise that can be ordered in bulk and later resold here in the United States (or online). While this may serve a purpose for a very specific shopper it is not without the buyer risks outlined above.
Buyer Beware
While we have no control over other people’s spending habits we will caution our readers from making any purchase on wish.com (or any other relatively unknown website for that matter). Our advice is to please, please, please take the time to research them first. In this case it took us less than 10 minutes to see very clearly that this is not a website we would personally choose to do business on.
