It was reeeeeally hard for me to make the switch to LED from incandescent string lights on my Christmas tree. I just think they look so much better and I'm such a traditionalist/purist when it comes to Christmas, but after many blown fuses and burnt out bulbs which added to my holiday stress, I finally decided it was time to make the change and these were my choice.Overall I REALLY love them, but before I go into why I love them, I want to get the negative out of the way. I ordered 3 boxes of 800 lights and while lighting my tree half way through one of the strings, I cut my finger on something really sharp. Turns out the string had been severed and soldered back together and left two really sharp points of the wires totally exposed (see pics)! Not only did it draw blood, but when I bent the string in that place, half the lights would go off. At that point I had already strung half the tree and didn't want to start all over so I opted to put some electrical tape around it and cross my fingers.Fortunately they stayed on, and when I reached out about the problem, I was fully reimbursed without having to return the damaged string! The other two strings were perfect, and even the damaged one works great now that it's taped and carefully placed. It's just something I thought should be addressed first in this review. I would've rated them lower, but I really do love the lights and think they're a great product. Plus the company is responsible and I'm very pleased with the customer service experience. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that this was a quality control fluke, but be warned to watch where you put your hands just in case! Had it not been for the wire issue I would give these at least 4 stars.So to the other stuff... I like LOTS of lights on my tree. I wrap pretty much every branch all the way to the trunk. For reference, I have a realistic Balsam Hill Fir tree that is 6.5' tall and 53" wide at the base. In hindsight, I probably could've gotten away with two strings of 800 and one of 500, but I always would rather have too many lights than too few. I would say I ended up using about 2200-2300 lights on the tree itself and the rest I ran down the back and coiled up inside my tree collar at the base, which provides a great little under tree glow! If in doubt, I'd say get more, but if you have a 6-7' tree, 2600 lights is DEFINITELY enough, even for you crazy tree light people like me!These strings are SOOOOO LONG and can get tangled VERY easily so be careful when you remove them from the box and take the ties off. My best advice is to leave them coiled up exactly as they come out and put the stack on a lazy susan or a cake decorating stand or something that you can rotate around, only un-coiling a few feet at a time as you go along.The lights themselves are very bright and beautiful for their tiny size and the color offerings are wonderful! In these pictures have them on full brightness and color setting #4 on the remote, but I like several of the settings and plan to rotate between them according to my mood. What makes me the most happy is that the warm white really does mimic the color of incandescent white as closely as any LEDs I've ever seen!A few other things to note:1) They cannot be plugged into each other. Each string requires its own outlet. I have a 3 outlet surge protector plugged into my timer and that works great.2) The plugs/IR boxes are a little bulky and cumbersome so be prepared to hide them.3) While each string comes with a remote, all of them can be controlled by a single remote, so if you buy multiple sets like I did, you only need one remote to control them all simultaneously which is really nice.Now that the lights are up and the tree is decorated I really couldn't be happier! And I love that I can now enjoy the holiday season stress free without having to worry about an entire section of the tree going out on me at any given time!In spite of my issue with the one string, I highly recommend these lights and don't think you will be disappointed either! I sincerely hope this review has been helpful to someone else. And yes, I paid full price for all of them! Feel free to ask any questions!
