Improper design & construction
1) The footbar design prevents you from doing proper, essential reformer footwork, as the adjustment lever is a second, metal bar under the footbar (see photo), which is hard to see when you are looking at this item online. You cannot drop your heels properly, as any basic position on the footbar has a second point of contact: the adjustment bar. 2) The carriage cover: Upon my first step, the cover slid, and second step, slid more (see photo). Standing and balancing exercises on a moving piece of equipment need to be 100% secure and reliable. This machine does not offer that. 3) Removing springs and changing resistance is easy, but the design of where the springs "float" under the carriage upon removal locates them to hang low to the point of knocking against the frame of the machine each time you slide the carriage (see video unmuted). I really wanted to be done with my search for a good home machine and was willing to pay. This price point was right in the middle of the cheap reformers and high end, and I was hopeful. I am a yoga teacher with 20 years exp. My 35-year exp. pilates teacher contributed to this review. My engineer and handy husband assembled the machine. If you are serious about your pilates home machine, I cannot recommend this product. Two stars for polite, prompt seller customer service. The size and color of the machine is also nice. Thoigh slightly confused, they did refund my money but did not arrange for a return FedEx pick up.. You also have to arrange the home pick up - they don't offer that, and our local FedEx drop off wouldn't accept bc it's considered freight). The seller tried and honored the AMZN policy, so for that, I am grateful.

    This reformer is beautiful. It looks great in our gym. It has nice adjustments for the ropes and the length of travel, and the upholstery seems to be good quality. All good so far.

    Unfortunately, the carriage itself does not fit snugly in the rails on our unit and rotates in an unstable way when used. This rotation, the moment it happens, causes the carriage to scrape metal, making both a horrible noise and creating metal shavings on the track. The screws for the rail caps (the stoppers) on one side were drilled too low and the wood was split where they attach to the side. Also, the stoppers do not appear to be large enough to stop the carriage at the end of the rails as the wheels are hopping past the stoppers at the end of travel. Photos included, one of the rail as it should be, one of the rail getting metal-shredded, and one of the stopper wood split.

    We are hopeful the seller will resolve and we'll update the review if so. If those issues didn't exist, it would be a 4-5 star product.

    My recommendation is to not order from this company. On their return policy the buyer is required to pay the shipping which is in the realm of $400. The reformer is not sturdy and miniature in stature with a small reformer box.

    I purchased one of Arkantos' simpler reformers and already left a 5-star review for that product because I love it so much. However, the reformer didn't come with a pilates box and I was really hoping they would sell it to me separately. Sure enough, their customer service was kind enough to offer just to sell the pilates box for me and I couldn't be happier! Their shipping was prompt and customer service excellent. Would recommend considering their products!
