I don't do yoga on this mat TO BE CLEAR. I take it with me places outdoors and use it as a portable futon almost. I meditate outdoors, read a book, eat lunch at a park, relax by a river, etc. So I have no idea how it would withstand under an actual rigorous workout.
For my sedentary purposes I LOVE IT. It's very pretty. It's comfortable. The foam is very high quality, durable, easy to clean, & does not seem to slip. The strap is very no nonsense and is really just an elastic band that you put on the mat so you can roll it up & go about your day. I admire the simplicity. No velcro etc.
& for the price & 1/2 inch thickness I'm not going to complain. Also i don't know how the foam could be ripping for other people because I've put mine on rocks plenty of times and have yet to have a tear. I really think this is a very good $20 yoga mat or I just don't know yoga mat prices I suppose.
