These Dimension One (D1) Vision Cartridges contain what I believe to be elemental silver on small beads that are encased in a perforated plastic housing. You may have seen real silver coins in foreign water wells/cisterns - it's the same principle. Silver, as you know from all of the 'silver impregnated' materials now available is anti-biotic. We started using these in our D1 Interlude hot tub back around 2005. Prior to that, we would get black algae forming around our jets and was problematic for cleaning when refilling the spa - this was in spite of being rigorous in our chlorination routine. Since using these silver pack, the algae has disappeared and we use much less chlorine to keep our water sparkling. When these were first introduced they cost upwards of $50 each - so we switched to cheaper brands costing about half. D1 has now decreased their price so they are again competitive with the no-name brands. The D1 silver pack seem a bit larger than others and claim 6 months of useful like - which I agree with! This plastic pack sits right on top our filter just under the skimmer basket. But you do need to be careful - it is my understanding that these are not for use with with bi-guanide systems - only chlorine and bromine. The description says that there is more at play than just the silver bits - I can't comment on the other functions other than these work and I'll buy more in a year when these have been used up!

I bought my Dimension One Breeze hot tub new in 2017 and had been using the Vision brand of filter cartridges, changing them every 6 months. With the Obmao filters, I get two for less than the cost of just one name brand cartridge, which is a fantastic value. As far as I can tell, there are no visible differences between the two brands—they both look the same. In the photo, the old Vision is faded, the Obmao filter is brand new, just out of the box. I place the filter on top of the basket, never have tightened it down.
Great Value-time will tell how effective

Even with the Vision filters, I’ve had occasional issues with balancing the pH, which impacts chlorine consumption. Time will tell how well the Obmao filters perform in helping to maintain my tub with “minimal maintenance.”
For now, I’m giving them a 5-star rating due to the great value. In about six months, I’ll update my review if these filters have not lived up to expectations and/or if they continue to deliver the same level of performance.
